Karnataka Postal Circle Merit Compilation and Allotment Rule

The circle merit list has been formulated strictly on the combined scores secured in Paper I and Paper II. Paper III and Paper IV (DEST) served solely as qualifying assessments and were not added into the ranking score calculation.

Candidates were allotted to postal divisions on the basis of their Circle Merit Rank, reservation category, and the specific order of division preferences submitted during application. Highly ranked reserved candidates who qualified on open competition benchmarks have been selected against unreserved (UR) vacancies.

Mandatory Driving License Rule for Postman Appointees

Divisional Heads must ensure that all candidates appointed as Postman possess or obtain a valid driving license to drive a two-wheeler, three-wheeler, or Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) within two years from their date of joining.

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are fully exempt from this condition. If an appointee does not possess a driving license upon joining, annual salary increments will be withheld until the license is submitted or up to five years, whichever comes earlier.

Joining Schedule, Deadlines, and Deemed Refusal Rule

Selected GDS candidates must note the strict administrative joining timeline prescribed by the Chief Postmaster General office:

  • Offer of Appointment: Divisional heads have been directed to issue posting orders immediately without delay.
  • Deemed Refusal Clause: If any candidate fails to report for duty by 30 October 2026, their offer will be treated as deemed refused.
  • Joining Deadline: The comprehensive joining and verification formalities must be finalized across all divisions by 31 October 2026.
  • Leave Provision: Candidates on sanctioned leave can join after the 7-day period only if they submit formal written acceptance before the cut-off.
  • One-Year Embargo: Candidates who previously cleared the exam but declined their appointment can be appointed only after completing one year from their declination date.

RTI Guidelines for OMR Sheets and Evaluation Verification

The Department has clarified that requests for re-totaling or revaluation of answer sheets will not be entertained. Candidates seeking copies of their evaluated OMR sheets must apply under the Right to Information (RTI) Act:

  • Applicants must pay a fee of Rs. 25/- per paper along with the statutory Rs. 10/- RTI application fee at any departmental post office.
  • RTI applications along with original fee receipts must be routed through the parent divisional office within one year from 26 October 2026.
